Aesther Chang: ETERNAL SPRING Solo Exhibition (2025) at ISETAN SALONE TOKYO, Roppongi
Venue designed by Japanese photographer and architect, Hiroshi Sugimoto (2015), feat. ceramics by Akari Karugane
ABOUT
ETERNAL SPRING is a solo exhibition that captures imaginary landscapes conjured from Chang’s memories. This series focuses on contradicting forces in nature, such as the movement and formation of skies, foliage, and water. Themes explored in this series include the passage of seasons, more specifically, the transition from winter to spring, and the renewal of life and hope associated with springtime. Whether the subject matter is abstract or figurative, Chang has always been interested in creating atmospheric dimensions that tether between concreteness and obscurity. Dilating and contracting between luminescence and shadow; movement and stillness; serenity and chaos, Chang’s works blur the boundaries between the natural world of imagination and reality.
